Banker, Player, or Tie? The Baccarat Bet That Matters

Compare baccarat's three headline wagers using house edge, commission, and practical table rules.

Baccarat looks complicated because the third-card rules happen automatically. Your main decision is simpler: bet on Banker, Player, or Tie.

Banker

Under common eight-deck rules, Banker has the lowest house edge before considering unusual side rules. Casinos typically charge a 5% commission on winning Banker bets to account for that advantage.

Player

Player is close behind and usually pays even money without commission. It can be a convenient choice when you want to avoid tracking commission, though its house edge is a little higher under standard rules.

Tie

The larger payout is tempting, but the Tie bet generally carries a much larger house edge. A dramatic payout is not the same thing as good value.

Scoreboards show history; they do not predict the next hand. Streaks can be fun to watch, but every shoe can produce patterns by chance.

Treat every session as paid entertainment. No pattern or staking system can guarantee a profit.
